Steven C. Burns – Electric & Acoustic Guitars, Slide Guitar, Vocals, Songwriter and Band Leader
Hometown: La Mesa, California, USA. Steven Burns delivers a solid, soulful, tasty mixture of guitar riffs that shows his roots in blues and rock. From a single sustained note to blistering bursts of emotional phrasing, those are the kind of solos that grab your attention. Steven is more than a rock guitarist turned blues. He has developed his own style and sound adding with the slide guitar on his Stratocaster and also loves to change it up with his acoustic rhythms on the Dobro. It was after returning from his honeymoon aboard the Legendary Rhythm and Blues Cruise (October 2006) that Steve formed the Burnsville Band. While on the Blues Cruise, he confirmed that could hold his own on the guitar and he was motivated by conversations with Chris Duarte, Larry McCray, Tommy Castro, and Smokin Joe Kubek to follow his dream. For the first year, Steve focused on refining the band’s distinct sound and style with 2-3 rehearsals a week and a number of personnel changes. The defining moment was when Joe Bernal joined the band. It was fate. Not only do Steve Burns and Joe Bernal’s guitar styles perfectly sink into a groove, no matter if they are playing their strats or their acoustics, but both performers have personal histories of the same tragedy that few men share. That sorrow binds them as brothers for life. But that’s what has earned them the right to sing the blues and boy do they. The chemistry between them adds fuel to their songwriting and zeal to their performances. The parallel stories, of these two musicians can be heard in their originals on their debut CD “Give Me A Job” which is captivating audiences far and wide. Steve also serves on the board of directors for BLUSD (Blues Lovers United of San Diego) and donates his time each month towards local blues' fundraisers. BLUSD is a non-profit organization that runs a very successful BITS (Blues in the Schools) program that exposes 1000's of local elementary school children to a live Blues performance. They teach students about the Blues as an art form and an important part of American History, not to mention exposing them to a live performance.
